全国7000万人の加藤学ファンの皆様

皆さんお元気ですか。日本は今梅雨の真っ只中と思いますが、こちらは朝霜がおりる季節になりました。もうすっかり冬です。

さて、1ヶ月に及ぶキュウイのピッキングが先週終了しました。ざっと概算してみたところ、私自身でトータルで620,000個のキュウイを取ったことになります。私が取ったキュウイは「Zespri」というメーカーが日本を始め世界各国に輸出していますので、是非スーパーで見つけてくださいませ。

この1ヶ月一緒に仕事をしてきた仲間たちが、次々とここを後にしていき、とうとう私のグループは私だけになりました。その私も明日ここを出て、しばらくコロマンドルを旅して、今月末のオールブラックス対イングランド戦のチケットが手に入りましたので、いったんオークランドに戻って、今月末にはまたここに戻ってきます。というのは当初の予定を変更して、ここにもうしばらくいます。今度は、もぎ取ったキュウイ畑の枝きり、pruningが始まります。Pruningはかなりハードで、給料が能力給なので皆嫌がってここを去りましたが、私はこの寒い冬の間この過酷な仕事に挑戦してみます。是非、はるかかなたに住んでいる皆さんも応援してください。

ところで、昨晩（NZ時間の午前0時半）ここに残った数人のイングランド人とともに、日本対アルゼンチンの試合を見ました。皆日本を応援してくれましたが、結果的に負けてしまいました。しかし、はるか南の国で祖国日本を応援するというのもいいものですね。今晩、イングランドの試合があります。お返しに応援してあげないと。

日本での盛り上がりはどうですか？どこのテレビ局が放映権を取りましたか？視聴率は？では、2週間ばかり旅に出てきます。月末にまた会いましょう。

P.S.
今まで私の色んな関係者（大学、礼文etc)が手紙やメール、それに物を送ってきてくれてほんと感謝しています。こっちに来てから知り合った人が日本に帰って返事くれたり、こっちで知り合った外国のかたがたが新たにメールのやり取りにくわたったり、そんなにしょっちゅうはメールや手紙を出せませんが、もし私のこっちでの旅が皆さんの活力になるならばそれが本望です。日記の方もノートには毎日書いていますが、時間を見つけて頑張って打ち込みますで楽しみにしていてください。とりあえず、外国の方々には頑張って英語でメールや手紙を書いています。
